Rules

Members may enter any of the competitions. Just entering a competion will earn you 10 points towards the “Video Maker of the Year Award”. Points are as follows, 1st 40, 2nd 30, 3rd 20 and unplaced 10 points.

A certificate is awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each competition as well as a small keepsake trophy for 1st place.

Not all competitions are held every year.

Make sure you understand the rules for the competition you are entering as any entry not adhering to the rules will be disqualified.

Entries should be submitted, in a format readable by the club’s equipment, with no other content except the competition video, on one of the following,  Blu-Ray disk, DVD or USB stick.

There is no running time limit on competitions  (except one minute advert}, but bear in mind  that  the duration should keep interest and the content to be relevant to the subject.

 

Still Images On Screen

Produce a video about any subject using only still images. The use of any computer generated effects is permissible, but, NO live moving shots are permitted.

Video to Music

Produce a video to match, compliment or illustrate a continuous piece of music or song supplied by the Club. The track must not be altered in any way.

Open

Produce a video of a subject of your choice.  This is an opportunity to let your imagination run riot, as you are not restricted to a theme.

One Minute Advert

Produce a ‘tongue in cheek’ video of not more than 1 minute in duration advertising any fictitious item or product.

Holiday Video

Produce a video made whilst you are on holiday. This could be a record of your holiday adventures or a documentary subject encountered in far away places.

Ron Palmer Documentary

This competition is in memory of Ron Palmer, a founder member of the club. He lost his sight, sold his equipment and asked that the proceeds funded a memorial shield to be presented to the winner. Whilst he was still alive he also donated cash prizes to the winners of this competition. This is a stand-alone competition and not part of the ‘Video Maker of the Year’ award, it has been devised to encourage you to produce the very best DOCUMENTARY with commentary and music appropriate to the subject matter. Entries will be judged by an independent person appointed by the committee.

Cash prizes are offered, 1st Prize £25, 2nd Prize £15, 3rd Prize £10

Christmas Quiz

Although not a competition, entering a video in the Christmas Quiz will gain you 10 points towards the ‘Video Maker of the Year’ award. The object is to make a video quiz for showing at the club’s Christmas Social Evening.
